Question: What are the recording fees?
Answer: The Cost to record an instrument is $9.00 for the first page and $2.00 for each additional page.
Question: Can I record a copy, or must I record the original document?
Answer: The original document is required, and must be signed by all pertinent parties and be notarized.
Question: Can I obtain copies of recorded documents?
Answer: Copies of recorded documents are available for $.25 per page or for certified copies the fee is $1.00 for the certification plus $.25 per page. Certified Copies of marriage licenses are $1.50.
Question:      Can the Clerk's Office search the records and tell me who owns a particular piece of real estate and whether there are any mortgages or liens on the property?
Answer: The County Clerk's Staff are not bonded to conduct real estate searches. However, on request, the Clerk's staff will instruct persons on how to perform real estate title searches. The Clerk's Office will NOT assume liability for searches conducted by others.
Question: Are copies of subdivision maps available in the Clerk's Office?
Answer: Yes. All maps are filed and indexed by subdivision and are available for viewing. Copies are available through the Assessor's Office. Please contact their office for the cost.
Question: A lien has been placed on my property. When I have paid off the note how do I remove the lien from the Clerk's record?
Answer: Even after the debt has been paid a record of the lien will remain. A Release of Lien must be filed by the person who first filed the lien, stating that the lien has been retired.
Question: If there is a lien on my property, what information will the Clerk's records contain?
Answer: The information provided on a lien normally contains the total amount of the lien and the lien holder's name. Any additional information should be obtained from the lienholder.
Question: If my spouse and I own property in joint tenancy and my spouse dies, how do I obtain sole title to the property?
Answer: Usually, you can record the Death Certificate in the County Clerk's Office. However, if the property is not held in joint tenancy, processing the estate in Probate Court may be required. You should obtain legal advice on all real estate transactions relating to your particular situation, the staff of the county Clerk's Office cannot advise you on legal questions.
Question: What are the procedures and fees for filing Uniform Commercial Code documents?
Answer: A Uniform Commercial Code document is sufficient for filing if it gives the names of the debtor and the secured party, is signed by the debtor, gives an address of the secured party, gives a mailing address of the debtor and contains a statement indicating the types, or describing the items, of collateral. A copy is also sufficient for filing if it contains the above information and is signed by the debtor. The document is retained in the County Clerk's office and is indexed by the debtor (buyer). Question: What is the age requirement when obtaining a marriage license?
Answer: The applicant must be 18 years of age to obtain a marriage license without parental consent.
Question: What is the cost to get a marriage license?
Answer: The cost for a marriage license is $25.00.
Question: What documents are required to obtain a marriage license?
Answer: A picture ID that also indicates a birth date such as a driver's license, Military I.D., or Birth Certificate. Both parties must also be present to apply.
