The County Manager is appointed by the Board of County Commissioners to manage and administer all programs and to ensure that County government operates efficiently and effectively. As such, the Office of the County Manager:
»
implements the policies adopted by the Board;
» employs, supervises and
provides direction, leadership and supervision to all County
administrative department heads;
» recommends an annual
county operating and capital improvement budget to the
Board;
» prepares and distributes
the bi-weekly agenda of the Board, as well as a follow-up
document of
actions taken by the Board at each meeting;
» compiles information as
requested by the Board;
» negotiates, supervises and
administers all County contracts;
» schedules and staffs
workshops and committees as required/requested by the Board;
» provides an
intergovernmental liaison function and maintains lines of communication
with other
local and state officials, community leaders and the public;
» insures County compliance
with all federal, state and local rules and regulations;
» provides and maintains
facilities for all agencies as required by law.

WHERE & WHEN DOES THE BOARD OF
COUNTY COMMISSIONERS MEET?
During the calendar year the Board of County Commissioners meet in
regular session one time every month. The
County Commissioners meet on Thursday evenings at 6PM. A public work-session is
held the Wednesday before the regularly scheduled meeting at 9AM. Meetings are held in the Commission
Hearing Room on the 2nd Floor of the County Courthouse, 1000 New York Avenue, Room 253.

HOW CAN I FIND OUT WHAT ISSUES ARE
ON THE AGENDA?
A copy of the agenda for the Board meetings is available at the reception desk in the
Administration Office on the 1st Floor of the County Courthouse, 1000 New York Avenue,
Room 101, for public review on the Monday prior to the meeting. In addition, the current
agenda, follow-ups to prior agendas, and minutes of the previous Board meetings are
available on-line on the Commissioner's home page at
this web site.
HOW CAN I ADDRESS MY CONCERNS TO
THE BOARD?
The Board accepts public comment on any issue on its agenda. You must fill out a speaker
card available from the reception desk in the Administration Office on the 1st Floor of
the County Courthouse, 1000 New York Avenue, Room 101. The Chairman of the Board will call
on you when the commission is ready for public comment on each item. You may also phone
