STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

• To provide legal representation to the Board of County Commissioners, Sheriff, Clerk, Assessor, Treasurer, and Probate Court.

• To provide quality legal services to the County efficiently, effectively and in a timely fashion regarding the whole spectrum of issues affecting County Government in the 21st century.
   

• The County Attorney's Office provides legal advice to the various county departments on a wide variety of subjects including, but not limited to:
      
            > Subdivision development and approval
            > Public Records retrieval
            > Open Meetings Act
            > Public finance responsibilities, and requirements
            > Elections
            > Ordinances
            > Property tax issues including assessment and collection of taxes
            > Personnel issues
            > EEOC and Human Rights issues
            > Land use and zoning issues
            > Public land use issues on the National Forest and BLM lands
            > Road openings and closures
            >  State law and County Ordinance enforcement issues
            > Risk Management practices, policies and procedures
            > Tort Claims
            > Insurance coverage's for general liability, law enforcement, and workers
                      compensation insurance coverage's
