What We Can Do?
All relationships have problems at one time or another. It is not against the law to disagree with your partner or to even have a verbal argument from time to time. It is against the law to abuse your partner however...... Mental abuse, physical abuse, & emotional abuse.
Possible signs that friends or family members are being abused:
Visible injuries - Black eyes, broken bones, bruises
The partner is exerting an unusual amount of control
The partner publicly ridicules
Have you noticed changes in behavior in your friends, co-workers,
or family member
- Frightened
- Exhausted
- On edge
- Do they or their children upset easily
What Can We Do?
Call Domestic Violence Hot Line or Program
Let them know you care & will listen
Keep an open mind
Don't force them, allow them to come to you
Never blame the victim, be supportive
Don't underestimate their fear
Learn about the different resources and programs in the area. If they ask, you can give them the right information
