[ARCHIVED] Why has my tax bill gone up!?

WHY DID MY TAXES GO UP!??

On April 10, 2018 there was a question on the ballot asking voters to approve imposing a property tax of $1.40 on each $1,000.00 of net taxable value of the property allocated to the Alamogordo Public School District under the Property Tax Code for the purpose of capital improvements for the Alamogordo Public Schools.

1,035 people in Alamogordo voted on this issue; that is 4.52% of the registered voters here in Alamogordo. 591 voted FOR the Mill and 444 voted AGAINST, it passed.

Also, the assessed values on 1/3 of the properties in Otero County were increased by 2%.

Either of these instances will cause your tax bill to increase.
